DESCRIPTION:A roundtable of speakers presenting eyewitness accounts and first-hand analysis of the dramatic events unfolding as students\, youth\, and working people in France\, Spain\, Portugal\, Serbia\, Albania\, and elsewhere rise up against capitalist austerity\, police brutality\, and authoritarian regimes. \nPanel in formation – confirmed speakers include: \nDennis Broe is a journalist\, critic and scholar who has taught at the Sorbonne and spoken at numerous MEP events. He is the author of books on film noir\, media\, and television\, including five novels set in Los Angeles in the 1940s and 50s. \nDan La Botz is an historian of the United States and Latin America and a longtime political activist on the left. He holds a Ph.D. in U.S. History from the University of Cincinnati and has taught at several universities. He is the author of a dozen books and scores of journalistic and academic articles on labor movements\, social movements\, and politics in the United States\, Mexico\, Nicaragua\, and Indonesia. He is a co-editor of the journal New Politics.
